Hero Bio:

Harry Vollmar was born at Lida, Nevada, January 29th, 1887. Like his brother, Adolph, who died in the Service in France, he was born and raised in Esmeralda County.

On the 10th of May, 1918, he entered the army with an Esmeralda contingent, and was sent to Fort McDowell, California. There he was taken ill, soon after his arrival, with influenza. On July 25th, 1918, he passed away in the Letterman General Hospital at the Presidio of San Francisco. His remains were returned home and buried with military honors. Harry was a son of F. A. and Molly Vollmar of Silver Peak, staunch Nevadans who gave two sons in their Country’s cause.

The name of Vollmar will long endure in the list of Nevada patriots as that of a family which gave its all, and whose two boys laid down their lives in defense of the Flag they loved so well.
